Minutes of September 21, 1999 Regular Meeting

1. On Tuesday, September 21, 1999, the regular meeting of the Strategic
Air Command Memorial Amateur Radio Club held at Wendy's Restaurant on
Galvin Road in Bellevue, Nebraska was called to order at 7:35 PM.
Officers in attendance were Paul Schleck, K3FU, Vice President; John
Sheffield, N4OWG, Treasurer; Sonya Fitzgerald, KC0AUL, Secretary; and
George Bellairs, KB0ZZT, Property Manager. Clay Mayrose, WA6LBU,
President, was absent. Other members in attendance included Mark
Fitzgerald, KC0ASN, Newsletter Editor; Sid Reade W0WWH, Courtesy
Committee; and Johann Schniedermeier, N0TJQ. A quorum was determined to
be present.

2. John Sheffield gave the Treasurer's Report as follows:

Beginning Balance: $378.00
Income: $ 0.00
Expenses: $ 77.25
Ending Balance: $300.25

A motion to approve the Treasurer's report was moved and seconded. The
motion passed.

3. Paul Schleck gave a report on the operation at the SAC Museum for
the United States Air Force Anniversary QSO Party this month. He said
that the club had done well in the contest, and managed a modest amount
of interaction with the general public. The staff at the Museum had
supported the event very well. Paul said that he sent E-mail to the
Museum staff thanking them for the use of the facilities and their help
with the event.

4. A discussion about a similar operation for next year's QSO Party at
the Museum then ensued. John Sheffield suggested that if we could have
the operation at the Museum again, we should organize a committee at
least five to six months in advance, and better prepare for the event.
John would like to have a more visible arrangement for the public to look
at during the event, such as some story boards with more informative
information on amateur radio, and what our club is about.

5. Johann Schniedermeier suggested that the club seek out someone to
work directly with the public, explain the club call signs, and the
equipment on display. He specifically suggested that at least one or
two people be dedicated to working with the public during the event.

6. Mark Fitzgerald suggested that the club should appoint a coordinator
for the equipment and antennas. He also noted that after the cleanup at
the Museum for this year's QSO Party, he found a small box with a few
tools and a soldering iron. He was not sure who the owner of the box
was. Paul Schleck said that it probably belonged to Fred Eriksen,
KB0LF. Mark agreed to contact Fred about returning his property.

7. Paul Schleck said that he had sent ballots out to the club members
so that they could vote on the proposed changes to the By-Laws:

"General membership meetings of the corporation shall normally be held
on the third Friday in December, March, June and September."

Changed to:

"General membership meetings of the corporation shall normally be held
in the months of December, March, June, and September, on a day to be
set by the president at least thirty days in advance."

The vote results were as follows:

Aye: 13
Nay: 2

for a total of 15 votes out of 17 mailed ballots.

The motion to amend the By-Laws was passed.

8. Paul Schleck said that the club was now incorporated as a Non-Profit
Public Benefit Corporation in the State of Nebraska, and that public
notices stating such had been posted in the Bellevue Leader starting on
September 8, 1999. The cost for the notices to be published was $55.

9. Paul Schleck announced that the Annual Meeting would be held on
Tuesday, December 14, 1999 between 6 and 8 PM at the Old Country Buffet
on Galvin Road in Bellevue, Nebraska.

10. A motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 8:14 PM.
