Minutes of September 16, 2002 Regular Meeting

Attendance and Quorum:

1.  On Monday, September 16, 2002, a regular business meeting of the
Strategic Air Command Memorial Amateur Radio Club, Incorporated, was
convened at 7:30 PM at the Wendy's Restaurant on Galvin Road in
Bellevue, Nebraska.  President Darwin Piatt, W9HZC, presided.  Others in
attendance were Treasurer Joan Bellairs, KC0DTK; and members Andrew
Dandridge, KC0BDX; and Dick Newsome, W0HXL.  Vice President Roy Gertig,
N0RG; Secretary Paul Schleck, K3FU; and Property Manager George
Bellairs, KB0ZZT; were absent.  A quorum was determined to be present.

Officer's Reports:

2.  Secretary: In the absence of the Secretary, Darwin Piatt agreed to
present last meeting's minutes and take the minutes for this meeting.
Minutes for the June 21, 2002 meeting were read by Darwin, and a motion
for their approval was seconded by Joan Bellairs.  The approval of the
minutes passed by voice vote of the membership.

3.  President: The President reported that the announcement for the
K0GRL special event station on the occasion of Veteran's Day and General
Curtis LeMay's birthday has been sent to all local clubs, ARRL/QST, as
well as other clubs and organizations worldwide.  An informal suggestion
was made to the President to send the announcement to all active
AIR-suffix stations.  The President agreed to do this.

4.  President (continued): The President announced that the Annual
Meeting in December will be held at the Bellevue Sizzler on Harlan Road.
The date will be the usual meeting time of the third Monday of the month
(December 16, 2002) at 6 PM (as the restaurant closes at 8 PM).  Joan
Bellairs will make the necessary arrangements.

5.  Treasurer:  The Treasurer gave the following report:

Last Month's Balance:      $ 392.20
This Month's Balance:      $ 392.20

Andrew Dandridge seconded the Treasurer's report, which was then
approved by the membership by voice vote.

Committee Reports:

6.  Webmaster:  Darwin Piatt said that the new web site will be cut over
"soon" and he will consult with the other member of the Webmaster
committee (Paul Schleck) regarding a suitable time to do this.

7.  Events: In the absence of the committee chair (Paul Schleck), Darwin
Piatt gave this committee report.  Paul Schleck met with Steve Prall at
the Strategic Air and Space Museum, along with NSTAR representative Mark
Conner, N9XTN, and Aksarben ARC representative Bill Newman, K0NSA, on
Monday, September 9, 2002.  Mr. Prall was impressed with our proposed
exhibits and has agreed to allow us to present the following exhibits on
Museum Family Day in April (exact date TBA):

- An NSTAR balloon launch with subsequent APRS/SSTV tracking

- An Aksarben ARC stand-up exhibit package containing demonstrations of
APRS, EMWIN, SKYWARN, SSTV, PSK31, as well as traditional HF and VHF
voice communications

In addition, Steve Prall is willing to allow the Lincoln ARC to present
an APRS conference at the Museum under favorable terms in February
(exact terms and date TBA).  Point of contact at the Lincoln ARC is Bill
Frost, W0BX.

A followup meeting between Mr. Prall and SACMARC organizers is scheduled
for January (exact date TBA).  Paul Schleck requested that Mr. Prall
provide exact dates and terms (noted by "TBA" above) by the end of
November.  Paul will update the membership as new information becomes

8.  Andrew Dandridge moved to adjourn, which was seconded by Dick
Newsome.  The motion was approved by voice vote and the meeting was
adjourned at 7:50 PM.
