4. Darwin Piatt reported that the joint Aksarben/NSTAR/SACMARC amateur
radio demonstration would be Sunday, April 6, 2003, on the Family Day
at the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Ashland. The planned events
included a weather balloon launch and a stand-up exhibit with live
demonstrations of amateur radio techniques like APRS, PSK31, and SSTV.
This stand-up exhibit had won an ARRL award for best exhibit related
to the movie "Frequency" when it was used in the lobby of the "20
Grand" theater in Omaha. SACMARC's participation in this event will
be to further local amateur radio publicity and recruiting in general,
as well as further the amateur radio community's relationship with the
Museum. There will not be a specific SACMARC component to Family Day
at the Museum this year. Setup time is 9:00 AM and with general
meeting time at 11:00 AM.

5. Douglas and Sarpy Counties are scheduled for their annual Severe
Weather Siren Test on April 5. Sarpy County is scheduled to begin
their testing at 10:00 AM. Based on past history, Sarpy County
generally has soundings at 10:00 and 10:30 AM. Douglas County is
scheduled to begin their test at 11:00 AM. All area amateur radio
operators are encouraged to help in this vital effort. Hams should
contact the Douglas and Sarpy County Emergency Coordinators to signup
for this public service event.

6. Webmaster: Full rollout of the new web site is still pending.

to become a member of the SACMARC. Since Matt was relatively new to

area 2-meter and 70-centimeter repeaters. The members extended a warm
welcome to Matt and all look forward to having him as a SACMARC
member.
